Global Business Global Rights - debate November 11

European companies impact the lives of people all over the world. While these companies can do good, such as provide jobs, they can also cause substantial harm to people and the environment. Particularly in the global south, companies too often behave unacceptably - from employing children to destroying rainforests. In many places around the world, where European companies cause harm, the victims of the harm do not get justice. Meanwhile, European governments and their policies encourage their companies to profit - too often at the expense of people and the environment. Together with business, politicians, civil society organisations and other experts possibleways to combat violations will be discussed, for instance through legislative measures. Furthermore, better access to justice for victims will be central in this debate.
